March 6, 2008 - kelowna, bckelowna winery to be featured at bc summer games
The Games, which take place from July 24 to 27, are expected to draw as many as 2,800 athletes, 544 coaches and 337 officials from across BC to participate in 28 events. Bounty Cellars winery has been chosen to provide wine, custom-labeled with the Games’ logo, which will be distributed as keepsake gifts to government officials such as Premier Gordon Campbell and other VIP’s, and may also be served at official functions. “Hosting the BC Summer Games provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase what Kelowna has to offer, and since the wine industry is such an integral part of that, we wanted to feature a local winery. The fact that Bounty Cellars could offer top-quality wine with a label designed to visually represent the Games made it the obvious choice,” says Kelowna 2008 BC Summer Games president Ron Rubadeau. Bounty Cellars is a boutique winery that follows the model of the traditional French négociant, or wine merchant, using the best grapes, juice and wine from throughout the Pacific Northwest to produce a portfolio of top-quality wines year after year for a variety of clients. Bounty’s award-winning wines can be found at better retailers and restaurants, but can also be ordered direct from the winery and packaged with custom-designed label. “Having the Summer Games logo on the wine label will help brand the event and make it that much more memorable,” says Bounty Cellars proprietor Ron Pennington. “We’re delighted to support such a great, community-based athletic competition and get the opportunity to share our wines with so many visitors to the city,” Bounty Cellars bottled its first wines in May 2005 and has since become known for consistently top-quality wines that appeal to a broad range of palates. The winery’s unique private label program is ideal for restaurants seeking an exclusive private house wine, companies looking for memorable gifts, organizations in need of an innovative fundraising idea or individuals with a taste for exceptional wines. Bounty will launch its newest wine offerings, the 2007 Gewurztraminer and 2007 Pinot Blanc, in mid-April.
