BOUNTY CELLARS WINERY LAUNCHES PARTNERSHIP WITH UBC ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

Kelowna, BC – Bounty Cellars Winery announced today it has created four unique private label wines for the University of British Columbia Alumni Association.

The wines will be served at UBC events, made available for purchase at restaurants on the university’s Vancouver campus and marketed to the institution’s close to 200,000 alumni.

“Out of 8,000 universities in the world, UBC is consistently one of the top 40 and our alumni are justifiably proud they attended this institution,” points out UBC Alumni Services Director Barney Ellis-Perry. “The UBC Alumni Wines will offer our alumni a novel way to show pride in their alma mater while supporting B.C. winery and helping raise money for the Alumni Association.”

The UBC Alumni Wines, which include The Dean’s List 2007 Chardonnay, Wrecked Beach 2004 Merlot, Cecil Green Park House 2007 Pinot Blanc and Cecil Green Park House 2005 Pinot Noir, are packaged in memorable, custom labels.

“We purposely went with a light-hearted and humourous label design because our alumni activities tend to be fun and social and we wanted to make sure not only that we offered a top-quality, great-tasting wine but that it was packaged in an appealing way,” says Ellis-Perry.

Bounty Cellars Winery is a boutique winery that specializes in producing custom branded wines for a wide range of clients.

In addition to the UBC Alumni Association, Bounty Cellars now works with a number of other post-secondary institutions in B.C. and Alberta, including the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford and Mount Royal College in Calgary.

“Most colleges and universities are looking for unique ways to establish affinity partners and brand their institution,” points out Bounty Cellars proprietor Ron Pennington. “As a leader in private label packaging with a proven reputation for creating consistently top-quality wines, we make it easy for them to create and administer their wine program and accomplish their goals.”

The UBC Alumni Wines will make their debut on May 23 as part of UBC Alumni Weekend 2009.

In addition to being served at an estimated more than 200 events a year and at The Sage Bistro on campus, the wines will be promoted for sale through the UBC Bookstore and the regular alumni newsletter.

Money raised through wine sales will support construction of a new 15 million dollar Alumni Centre in the heart of the campus.
